Some days Ww get 5 or 6 calls a day from the Value Village Project of the National Children’s Center. They’re local so they claim to be exempt from the do not call list. This doesn’t seem like a great way to get people to give you money, I don’t think you need to be A Development Professional to recognize that, personally. I’m about to have the number blocked, although it annoys me to need to do that. Friday they called again, and even though I was still supposed to be on “voice rest” I answered the phone because it’s driving me crazy. I again asked them not to call me. The caller informed me “We’re above the law.”
Really? Want to test that? I’ve got lots and lots of time on my hands.
A search on their phone number tells me I’m not alone. Their website has an email address, donationfeedback@savers.com, where they ask you to “Tell us about your donation experience.” We’ll see how this goes…
There’s always the complaint line: https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
They’re exempt from the “do not call” registry, that part is correct because they’re a charity. BUT, this is not only a good way to make asks, it’s harassment. And stupid. I met someone recently who, I’ve noticed, is on their Board, so I think I might actually get somewhere with my complaint, for what it’s worth.
Oh, I thought they were making that up. I had a carpet cleaning service that wouldn’t leave me alone, never got a call again after reporting them through that form.
The form works well for business. Nonprofits and political callers and anyone you’ve done business with in the past can claim exemption, alas.
