WMNF

I’m very excited to see that [tag]WMNF[/tag] is not only still on the air, but also online.

WMNF first went on the air in September, 1979, the result of a few years of hard work by a small group of dedicated volunteers who went door-to-door raising money for Florida’s first [tag]community radio[/tag] station. The call letters stand for: Member-sponsored [tag]Non-commercial FM[/tag].

WMNF continues to be volunteer-powered and listener-sponsored, providing the listening community with eclectic music as well as non-mainstream news, views and public affairs programming. Thanks to all the wonderful WMNF volunteers, staff, board of directors and more than 10,500 listener-sponsors! Radio for the rest of us!

WMNF is a 70,000 watt non-commercial, listener supported community radio station, licensed to the Nathan B. Stubblefield Foundation, a non-profit organization established solely to operate WMNF. WMNF is a section 501(c)3 charitable organization. All gifts and donations are tax deductible in accordance with the law.

I grew up right on the southern edge of their signal coverage. The station came in great, except for Monday nights, when CB interference interfered with all of our broadcast devices. That made watching television kind of strange and cool, but it was annoying.
