Don’t know that I’ll make it out for this, but it sounds interesting:
March 31, 2009 The Fragile Body: Restoring Health and Healing. Authentic Art founder Sharon Burton has posted all of the information about tonight’s event at that link. It’s part of a 5 part series – here’s a summary of the entire series:
Gathering women artists, healers, veterans, and survivors from across cultures and disciplines every Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C., ‘Women Artists/Women Healing: Multicultural Artistic Narratives of Trauma and Survival,’ is a five-part series of focused literary readings, performances, exhibitions, and facilitated discussions exploring the many dimensions of women’s experiences of trauma and survival.
Interact with the artists, performers and panelists to learn how lives are transformed through artistic, creative and personal expressions. Listen to voices of survival, be it the ravages of war and strife, or crime, poverty, and oppression and find out how faith, healing and empathy are entry points for promoting justice and healing from within and beyond one’s own personal experience.
Produced by Elizabeth Bruce and Associate Producers Alivia Tagliaferri and Timothea Howard, the mission of this powerful series is to give voice to women’s resilience and survival, validate and build upon the healing capacity of the creative process and the collective experience of support and community.
Tonight’s event starts at 6 p.m. at CentroNia – get all the details at Authentic Art.
