Last night was the opening reception for the Paul Klee exhibit at the Phillips Collection. We ended up forgoing the the curator’s talk as it seemed like it would be more edifying to return to the 3rd floor to visit the art again than to wade into the dense crowd in the Music Room. I do love the Music Room, though.
According to Jessica Dawson’s review in today’s Washington Post, the exhibition catalogue is well-done so I’m sure we didn’t miss any vital information. Plus, I’m not wild about curator’s talks that take place far from the art itself, even if there is an abundance of cheese in the vicinity.
There were some excellent snippets of conversation to be heard at the event. My favorite had to be this exchange:
“That young woman is wearing jeans!” The first woman exclaimed. I would swear she was actually twitching.
“Yes,” Her companion intoned gravely after careful study of the young woman in question. “But they’re expensive jeans.”
Crisis Managed, I guess.
