To make up for the seriousness of the previous posts, here’s the “best-of” list for February from Damn You Auto Correct. (By the time I got to the Welshmen in the tree I was in tears and could barely breath).

Going bananas!
Since bananas have been a recurring theme lately, I thought I’d post this hilarious clip from the Colbert Report:

Glenn Beck’s Goldline ads make me want to crawl out of my skin- I’m going to embed a short mash-up of Beck’s gold-pandering for reference in the event you’re unaware of his idiocy:
If you want to learn about bananas, the USDA National Agricultural Library is a great place to start. I was going to do a quick search to find the exact number of banana varieties (it’s around 1000, not 1 – the number being widely reported in blight stories), but now I’m fascinated by stats that the Cavendish accounts for only 13% of the total world crop. 13% of 98 million tons isn’t insignificant, but it’s a much lower number than I expected to find. The economic consequence of blights and other problems aren’t diminished).
Fascinating. Now I need to drink some coffee and read more about bananas.
Monday Morning Zen: a French Bulldog eating cabbage
Husband sent me this after spotting it over at Serious Eats.
Hidden Kitten
Husband took time out from his busy schedule to share the 30 Most Important Cats of 2010. I think Hidden Kitten (#24) is my favorite.
Enjoy!
The bonobo wanted Anderson Cooper to wear the bunny suit
This, my friends, is the true promise of television fully realized:

I can’t stop watching this clip and it makes me laugh every time.
Don’t get me wrong – if a bonobo asked me to wear a bunny suit, I’d do it. Bonobos are fascinating. It’s the deadpan, Monty Python-esque nature of the clip that leaves me in hysterics.
