The various delivery companies seem to be locked in a battle to see who can misdeliver the most packages around here. If you don’t insist on a signature you’re really taking a chance, but who can count on being around for a signature? The package with the housenumbers went to the next street over – right number, wrong street. I didn’t know what it was when the neighbor dropped it off. Good thing he’s honest (and/or observant and didn’t just open it) or he’d have lovely new house numbers, too.

The previous occupants of the house on the next street over were raided once, right after we moved into this house. Unfortunately, The Proper Authorities apparently couldn’t read the street signs either and showed up at our house. Nothing says “welcome to the neighborhood” like almost having your door kicked in. By mistake.

heh. My mom once sent a Christmas package to my brother in Denver. He wasn’t there (already left for holidays with his GF’s family) so it was returned to her. But since she wasn’t home to accept it, she got the note and it was left at the neighbors. Ten minutes later she went to get it and the kid there was WEARING the shirt she’d sent to my brother as a present. She’s held a grudge against the folks in Brown ever since — I tell her it’s not their fault she lives across the street from idiots and thieves.
