Cousin Lou sent me this post with amusing commentary about a 1977 JC Penny catalog, blissfully unaware that people not only still had, but seemed to like, the horrific [tag]barrel chairs[/tag]. Not surprisingly, it was the fact that they were a source of domestic decorating tension that led to their appearance last week in the [tag]Washington Post Home Section[/tag].
Great, now I want barrel chairs and have no place to put them.
I, for one, am very thankful that the Deluxe Apartment in the Sky has no room for such objects. Friends don’t let friends buy barrel chairs.
Not the ones made with real-looking barrels, that is. Upholstered barrels are fine. I have 2 in my office. They are most utilitarian.
