Of all the jaw-on-the-floor videos taken at tea party rallies and protests and such, this is by far the most revolting I’ve seen. Like, stomach-turning, blood pressure rising revolting. Ladies and gentleman, this is the tea party at its worst.

It’s kind of an understatement.

I spent a great deal of time reading the sparse reporting on this (week old) event and the reactions from those both appalled and proud of how it played it. (then I took a shower).

I think that this excellent piece by Leah Nelson at the Southern Poverty Law Center does an excellent job of summing up the situation, the response, and the backgrounds of both the organization being protested and the organizations sponsoring the protest. “After Vicious Anti-Muslim Rally a Deafening Silence.” Even if you read or watch nothing else about these events, take a few minutes to read Nelson’s post, it’s well worth your time.

The Greater Los Angeles office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has put out a statement and posted the video on their website.
