Henri the Great Dane Puppy Versus the Hose

The worst thing about the new Marmaduke movie will no doubt be the legions of people who run out and get a Great Dane puppy without understanding what’s involved in caring for a big dog. You shouldn’t get a dog at all unless you can take care of it, but you should watch this very funny video of a gorgeous blue Great Dane:

You should NOT get a dog if you are not prepared to take care of it for life. You might want to fix the typo.

It is bitchy, rude and evidence of one’s own intellectual insecurities to constantly passive-aggressively suggestion that the author “might want to fix” typos. Pointing out grammatical errors is generally seen as rude unless one’s input has specifically been sought. The blogosphere may abide by few rules of civility but this is one to which most writers agree.

In informal prose contractions are an acceptable form of a negative statement so in this case the post is not even dramatically inaccurate.

I didn’t intend to post Ed’s comment until I could write a response, but Husband pointed out to me I approved it accidentally.

Frankly, the rude thing to do is to show up on a blog and call another commenter out on rude behavior in such a rude way. Yes, in general, it’s not terribly polite to publicly chastise a person for bad grammar, an exposed slip, or umpteen other things Miss Manners would happily take one to task for but there are several things here:
    1) Evil Agent enjoys editing things and since I’ve known her for nearly 20 years I take it in the spirit intended and not as a passive-aggressive bit of fussiness
    2) The post probably did have a typo and it may well have gone out that way in the notification email. That happens sometimes – so that the post that goes out in email is rather different than the one that finally appears here. That’s pure user error and I do apologize. That means that the post she saw was probably different than the one here.
    3) I don’t remember what 3 was, but I’m sure it was eloquent, cranky, and a really doozy of a point.
    4? blogosphere civility? really?
